Potret Kekerasan dalam Rumah Tangga (KDRT) dalam Novel Di Tanah Lada Karya Ziggy Zezsyazeoviennazabrizkie

Abstract

Domestic violence (DV) is a social problem that causes physical and psychological suffering. Although violence and trauma in the novel Di Tanah Lada have been studied, the interrelationships among forms, causal factors, and impacts still require a more integrated reading. This study aimed to describe these three aspects in the novel Di Tanah Lada by Ziggy Zezsyazeoviennazabrizkie. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach through literary text analysis. Data comprising words, phrases, clauses, and sentences were collected using reading and note-taking techniques and subsequently analyzed through identification, classification, and interpretation. The findings identified 70 data items, comprising 26 on forms of violence, 13 on causal factors, and 31 on the impacts of violence. The forms of violence included personal violence (18 data items) and structural violence (8 data items). The causal factors included individual, social, environmental, and family history factors, whereas cultural factors were not identified in the analyzed data. The impacts of violence comprised 3 data items on physical impacts and 28 on psychological impacts. The predominance of data items on psychological impacts indicates that victims’ emotional suffering is a prominent aspect of the representation of family violence in the novel. These findings enrich research in the sociology of literature through an integrated understanding of the forms of violence, their underlying factors, and their impacts on victims’ sense of safety and emotional well-being. The study’s implications support the development of literary appreciation that promotes empathy and awareness of the importance of child protection.
