Pengaruh Pembiasaan Membaca Al-Qur’an terhadap Pembentukan Karakter Religius Peserta Didik

Abstract

The development of students’ religious character requires consistently implemented educational practices, including habituation to Qur’an reading. However, empirical evidence regarding the contribution of such habituation to students’ religious character in the elementary school context still needs to be strengthened. This study aimed to analyze the levels of habituation to Qur’an reading and religious character and to examine the effect of such habituation on the development of students’ religious character at SDIT Abu Bakr Ash Shiddiq, Pangkep Regency. This study employed a quantitative approach with an ex post facto design. The study population comprised 104 students, while analyzable data were obtained from 100 respondents. Data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire, observation, and documentation. The instrument underwent validity and reliability testing. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, a normality test, a linearity test, simple linear regression, and a t-test with the assistance of SPSS Statistics. The results showed that habituation to Qur’an reading was in the moderate category, with a mean score of 77.27; 69.0% of the students were in the moderate category, 13.0% in the high category, and 18.0% in the low category. Religious character was also in the moderate category, with a mean score of 78.64; 64.0% of the students were in the moderate category, 19.0% in the high category, and 17.0% in the low category. The regression analysis produced the equation Y = 5.720 + 0.944X, with R = 0.802 and R² = 0.644. The hypothesis test results showed that habituation to Qur’an reading was a positive and significant predictor of religious character (t = 13.301; p < 0.001), contributing 64.4%, while the remaining 35.6% of the variation was associated with factors outside the research model. These findings provide empirical evidence for strengthening character education based on religious habituation and highlight the importance of consistency in habituation to Qur’an reading in supporting the development of students’ religious character.
