ALSYS: Jurnal Keislaman dan Ilmu Pendidikan publishes peer-reviewed scholarship that advances Islamic studies and educational sciences through theoretically grounded and methodologically rigorous research. The journal welcomes disciplinary and interdisciplinary work, including studies in Islamic education and the integration of knowledge where academically grounded, with clear contributions to contemporary scholarly debates and evidence-informed educational practice.

Aims
Advance Islamic Studies Scholarship
Publish rigorous scholarship in Qur’anic and Hadith studies, theology (‘aqidah), ethics (akhlaq), jurisprudence (fiqh and uṣūl al-fiqh), Islamic thought, and the history of Islamic civilization, with defensible argumentation and careful use of sources.
Strengthen Educational Sciences
Disseminate research on curriculum and instruction, learning and assessment, educational psychology, inclusive education, leadership and management, and technology-enhanced learning, grounded in transparent methods and robust analysis.
Develop Islamic Education and Knowledge Integration
Encourage integrative scholarship that connects Islamic knowledge and educational practice, including Islamic education in schools/madrasah/pesantren, values and character education, and academically grounded approaches to the integration of science, knowledge, and faith.
Promote Research Integrity and Ethical Discourse
Uphold ethical scholarship, responsible citation, and transparent reporting; and support analyses of contemporary socio-cultural challenges (e.g., moderation, equity, gender, public ethics) using appropriate methods and respectful engagement with communities.
Submissions should state a clear research question or argument, specify approach and sources (textual, doctrinal, historical, empirical, or mixed), and articulate a well-defined contribution to Islamic studies, educational sciences, Islamic education, or their intersections. Where applicable, manuscripts should report ethics approval/consent and provide sufficient detail for verification or replication.
Scope
ALSYS considers original research articles, systematic/scoping reviews, conceptual/theoretical analyses, and critical perspectives in Islamic studies and educational sciences, including Islamic education and integrative studies that connect both streams. Submissions may address formal education (schools, madrasah, higher education), non-formal education (pesantren, community learning), and broader social institutions, provided the argument or evidence is analytically defensible and ethically responsible.
1) Qur’anic Studies and Tafsir
Qur’anic interpretation, thematic studies, Qur’anic sciences, hermeneutics, and Qur’an-related scholarship, including educational and socio-ethical implications where relevant.
2) Hadith Studies and Prophetic Tradition
Hadith criticism and methodology, commentary traditions, authenticity debates, and contemporary engagement with prophetic guidance in law, ethics, and education.
3) Fiqh, Uṣūl al-Fiqh, and Islamic Legal Thought
Classical and contemporary fiqh, uṣūl al-fiqh, maqāṣid approaches, fatwa studies, legal reform, and applications to institutions and social life (including education) where relevant.
4) ‘Aqidah, Akhlaq, and Islamic Ethics
Theology, ethics, moral reasoning, spirituality, character formation, and value-based analysis of contemporary issues with careful engagement with sources and contexts.
5) Islamic Thought, History, and Civilization
Intellectual history, Islamic civilization, institutions, movements, biographies, and historical-method studies that inform contemporary scholarship and education.
6) Curriculum, Pedagogy, and Assessment
Curriculum development, instructional strategies, learning design, assessment and evaluation, and classroom research across educational levels in Islamic and general education contexts.
7) Educational Psychology and Learner Development
Motivation, self-regulation, wellbeing, development, inclusive support, learning difficulties, and psychosocial factors shaping learning and character education.
8) Leadership, Management, and Educational Policy
Leadership and supervision, governance, quality assurance, teacher professional development, educational policy and reform, and institutional development in schools, madrasah, and pesantren.
9) Language, Literacy, and Islamic Texts
Arabic language education, literacy, translation, discourse studies, and pedagogical approaches to classical and contemporary Islamic texts, including text-based learning in religious institutions.
10) Technology, Da‘wah, Community Education, and Contemporary Issues
Educational technology and innovation, digital learning media, da‘wah and religious communication, counseling and guidance, community education, and contemporary/comparative studies (e.g., moderation, plural societies, gender and equity) with ethically responsible approaches.
Types of Manuscripts Considered
ALSYS considers, among others: empirical quantitative studies, qualitative research (including case studies, ethnography, phenomenology, discourse analysis), mixed-methods research, experimental and quasi-experimental designs, design-based research and development/evaluation studies, doctrinal/normative and text-based studies in Islamic scholarship, historical and comparative analyses, conceptual/theoretical papers, and systematic or scoping reviews with transparent search, selection, and synthesis procedures. Submissions must present clear questions or arguments, transparent analytical steps, robust evidence or reasoning, and ethical compliance (e.g., consent/permissions and research approvals where applicable).
